Kadar Lumpur dalam Agregat Halus dengan Saringan

Pasir merupakan salah satu material pengisi yang digunakan dalam campuran beton. Pasir yang digunakan sebagai material pengisi memiliki standarstandar kelayakan yang harus dipenuhi sesuai standar seperti ASTM dan SNI. Lumpur yang terdapat pada permukaan pasir dapat mengganggu lekatan antara permukaan butiran pasir dengan pasta semen sehingga berakibat mengurangi kuat tekan beton. Pasir yang baik adalah pasir yang bebas dari kandungan lumpur. Membebaskan pasir dari kandungan lumpur merupakan usaha yang tidak efektif dan tidak realistis. Usaha yang dilakukan adalah membatasi kadar lumpur dalam pasir sedemikian rupa kandungannya yang pengaruhnya terhadap kuat tekan beton dapat diabaikan. Karena pengaruh buruk tersebut, maka kandungan lumpur dalam agregat halus (pasir) dibatasi yaitu tidak boleh lebih dari 5 % menurut SNI. Batasan kandungan lumpur sebesar 5 % dapat dianggap sebagai kandungan maksimum lumpur yang pengaruhnya terhadap kuat tekan beton dapat diabaikan.
